Starting point: San Martin de los Andes. Province of Neuquen. Argentina.

Description:
The trans-Patagonian tour of a lifetime! This adventurous and devastatingly beautiful trip takes you from the heart of the Andes, across the untamed steppes of Patagonia, to meet the Atlantic Ocean and the marine wilderness of its pristine beaches.

Starting from San Martin de los Andes, DBP will guide you through ages old forests, under snow capped mountains, and around the clear lakes that will make up the first day of your tour. During the subsequent days you will see the Andes fade into the horizon as you follow the world famous rivers of the Andean foothills towards the mystic Patagonia.  Following carefully selected trails that lead you through estancias, river beds, gorges, mesetas, salt flats, and small towns on the fringes of civilization trained tour guides will show you a personalized view of the real Patagonia. The last days will lead you over the desolate Meseta de Somuncura; a windswept plateau populated by cacti and hardened gauchos where few tourists have ever set foot. The unparalleled views are equaled only by the immense sense of wilderness and accomplishment that overflow as you rest on this plain where humans are an afterthought. Guided by a river bed the last day will lead to the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean, where the mile long beaches are dotted with sea lions and penguins and the horizons are replaced by waves and the lethargic motions of the blue whale. The last night on tour will be spent in Puerto Piramides, Peninsula Valdez, where daily flights and luxury buses to Buenos Aires are readily available.

Ensuring our guests comfort and relaxation at all times, lodging is divided between hotels and campsites. The hotels, based on twin shared accommodation, have been selected to offer the utmost in luxury and comfort while representing the natural beauty of the area. While camping we provide tents, comfortable sleeping mats and sleeping bags, washing facilities, and the unparalleled feeling of nature at its purest.

When camping our cook caters to your gastronomical needs providing simple, fresh, wholesome meals cooked over a camp fire. Many of these meals will include our world famous beef or Patagonian lamb or mutton. (An interesting peculiarity is that mutton from sheep reared in Patagonia has a distinctive but agreeable taste derived from the sheep having eaten the prickly “neneo” shrub which grows in this arid region.) During dinner and evenings at the campsites we provide a full bar.
